Halfway through a Denis Johnson novel, heard a story here near Normal after feeding doubles drills on private courts bordered by corn, among many stories, about a former public laboratory high school teacher/high school tennis coach turned self-branding tennis parent/realtor and all around local menace long since gone who once coached his otherwise forgettable team in preparing them for State by stating lines are out, lines out in ways I will ascribe to larger issues and remember well after the corn is rotated into soybeans bordering the same private courts the chode could never get his tiny to be sure hands on and I finish a deeper dive into the work of Lydia Davis next year.
